Courage To Stand For Jesus

SCRIPTURE: John 9:29-34

29: We know that God spake unto Moses: as for this fellow, we know not from whence he is.
30: The man answered and said unto them, Why herein is a marvellous thing, that ye know not from whence he is, and yet he hath opened mine eyes.
31: Now we know that God heareth not sinners: but if any man be a worshipper of God, and doeth his will, him he heareth.
32: Since the world began was it not heard that any man opened the eyes of one that was born blind…
34: They answered and said unto him, Thou wast altogether born in sins, and dost thou teach us? And they cast him out.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: STANDING FOR JESUS REQUIRES COURAGE

Standing for Jesus is not always easy, especially when our faith is challenged by people who oppose what we believe. The man who was healed by Jesus faced persistent questioning, insults, and rejection from the religious leaders. Yet, he refused to deny the One who had changed his life. He did not have all the answers, but he courageously stood by his experience and spoke in defence of Jesus.

His example teaches us that genuine faith requires courage, especially when standing for Christ becomes costly. The Pharisees continued to question the man who had been healed. They wanted him to repeat how Jesus had opened his eyes, but instead of becoming intimidated, he boldly challenged their repeated questions.

Standing for Jesus is not always easy. There are moments when our faith may be questioned, mocked, or opposed. The healed man did not have a position of influence or religious authority, yet he had something powerful: a personal encounter with Jesus. His courage teaches us that we do not need to know everything before we can stand for Christ. We can simply remain faithful to what we know and have experienced.

Notice how his courage increased as the questioning continued. Opposition did not destroy his testimony; it revealed the strength of his conviction. As believers, we should not allow fear of rejection, criticism, or losing people’s approval to make us compromise our faith.
