Walking In The Light Of Christ
SCRIPTURE: John 11:1-11
1: Now a certain man was sick, named Lazarus, of Bethany, the town of Mary and her sister Martha.
2: (It was that Mary which anointed the Lord with ointment, and wiped his feet with her hair, whose brother Lazarus was sick.)
3: Therefore his sisters sent unto him, saying, Lord, behold, he whom thou lovest is sick.
4: When Jesus heard that, he said, This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God might be glorified thereby.
5: Now Jesus loved Martha, and her sister, and Lazarus…
11: These things said he: and after that he saith unto them, Our friend Lazarus sleepeth; but I go, that I may awake him out of sleep.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: WALKING IN THE LIGHT OF CHRIST MEANS TRUSTING IN HIS DIRECTION
John 11:1–11 tells the story of Lazarus, who was seriously ill. Although Jesus loved Lazarus and his sisters, He did not immediately go to them, instead, He waited according to God’s purpose.
In the midst of uncertainty, Jesus reminded His disciples of the importance of walking in the light. Jesus said, “Are there not twelve hours of the day? If any man walk in the day, he stumbleth not, because he seeth the light of this world” (v. 9). Walking in the light speaks of living under the direction, truth and guidance of Christ.
The disciples were concerned about the danger Jesus might face in Judea. But Jesus knew that His mission was guided by the Father’s will. He was not controlled by fear or circumstances. Lazarus’ illness also teaches us that God’s delay does not mean God’s absence.
Jesus knew what was happening and had a greater purpose behind the situation. When we walk in His light, we can trust Him even when we do not understand His timing.
As believers, we must allow the light of Christ to guide our decisions, relationships, ministry and daily conduct. We should not allow fear, pressure or uncertainty to lead us into darkness. Walking in the light of Christ means trusting His direction even when the path is unclear. When Jesus is our light, we can move forward with faith instead of fear, knowing that He is in control.
