Jesus, The Door Of The Sheep

SCRIPTURE: John 10:7-13

7: Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep.
8: All that ever came before me are thieves and robbers: but the sheep did not hear them.
9: I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.
10: The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
11: I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep…
13: The hireling fleeth, because he is an hireling and careth not for the sheep.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: THE DOOR SPEAKS OF ACCESS AND PROTECTION

Jesus declared, “I am the door of the sheep” (v. 7). A door provides access, protection, and security. By using this picture, Jesus teaches that He is the true way unto salvation and the safe place for those who belong to God. Jesus is not merely one of many ways to God; He presents Himself as the Door. He says, “If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved” (v. 9). Through Christ, we receive salvation, spiritual security, and the freedom to live according to God’s purpose. Jesus also contrasts Himself with thieves and hired workers. The thief comes “to steal, and to kill, and to destroy,” but Jesus came that we “may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly” (John 10:10). The Good Shepherd does not abandon His sheep when danger comes. He willingly lays down His life for them.

Therefore, our confidence should not be in human systems, personalities, or possessions, but in Christ, the Door and the Good Shepherd. Jesus is the only true way to salvation. We must come to God through Christ and not through false ways. Those who remain in Him can find spiritual protection and assurance. When we remain in Him, we find salvation, protection, guidance, and abundant life. Let us trust Christ completely, follow His voice, and remain safely in His care.
