from obedience to honour

SCRIPTURE: Joshua 4:8-14

8: And the children of Israel did so as Joshua commanded, and took up twelve stones out of the midst of Jordan, as the Lord spake unto Joshua, according to the number of the tribes of the children of Israel, and carried them over with them unto the place where they lodged, and laid them down there.
9: And Joshua set up twelve stones in the midst of Jordan, in the place where the feet of the priests which bare the ark of the covenant stood: and they are there unto this day.
10: For the priests which bare the ark stood in the midst of Jordan, until everything was finished that the Lord commanded Joshua to speak unto the people, according to all that Moses commanded Joshua: and the people hasted and passed over.
11: And it came to pass, when all the people were clean passed over, that the ark of the Lord passed over, and the priests, in the presence of the people.
12: And the children of Reuben, and the children of Gad, and half the tribe of Manasseh, passed over armed before the children of Israel, as Moses spake unto them:..
14: On that day the Lord magnified Joshua in the sight of all Israel; and they feared him, as they feared Moses, all the days of his life.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: OBEDIENCE ATTRACTS DIVINE HONOUR

The journey from obedience to honour is a divine pathway that God has established for His people. The Israelites did “just as Joshua commanded them” (v. 8). There was no delay, argument, or partial compliance. The testimony of Joshua and the Israelites demonstrates that when God’s instructions are followed wholeheartedly, honour naturally follows. Obedience is the seed; honour is the harvest. On that day, the Lord exalted Joshua in the sight of all Israel…” (v. 14). The Lord exalted Joshua in the sight of all Israel, God honoured Joshua because he faithfully carried out His instructions. When you honour God with obedience, He honours you before men.

The people revered Joshua just as they had revered Moses; honour gave Joshua credibility and authority as a leader. Obedience to God positioned him for lasting influence before the children of Israel.

Obedience may seem simple or even demanding at times, but it carries great rewards. God uses obedience as the pathway to lift, establish, and honour His people. If you desire honour, begin with obedience. Honour is not something we chase; it is something God bestows. Joshua’s consistent obedience, even from the days of Moses, positioned him for divine lifting and honour.
