Crossing Over Into The Promise

SCRIPTURE: Joshua 3:14-17

14: And it came to pass, when the people removed from their tents, to pass over Jordan, and the priests bearing the ark of the covenant before the people;
15: And as they that bare the ark were come unto Jordan, and the feet of the priests that bare the ark were dipped in the brim of the water, (for Jordan overfloweth all his banks all the time of harvest,)
16: That the waters which came down from above stood and rose up upon an heap very far from the city Adam, that is beside Zaretan: and those that came down toward the sea of the plain, even the salt sea, failed, and were cut off: and the people passed over right against Jericho.
17: And the priests that bare the ark of the covenant of the Lord stood firm on dry ground in the midst of Jordan, and all the Israelites passed over on dry ground, until all the people were passed clean over Jordan.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: CROSSING OVER IS MOVING BY DIVINE DIRECTION

Crossing over is a spiritual transition from where you are to where God has ordained for you to be. It is moving from limitation into fulfilment, from promise to possession, from wilderness experience into a life of purpose. Crossing the Jordan symbolizes stepping from preparation into fulfilment of God’s promises. The river, at flood stage, was an impossible barrier, but God made a way.

Often, God calls us to move forward in faith, and the miracle happens when we obey and trust His timing. The Israelites had to move as one, following the priests who carried the ark (v. 14). Entering a new season requires action. Faith is expressed through obedience and forward movement. The Israelites did not cross the Jordan River by their own wisdom; they followed God’s instruction.

The Jordan was overflowing, yet God stopped the waters. The miracle came not from human effort, but from divine intervention (v. 15-16). When God calls you to step into His promises, He will provide the breakthrough even in impossible situations. The people crossed on dry ground because they followed God’s instructions precisely; indeed, miracles often require cooperation with His direction (v. 17). Let us be diligent in following God’s Word and instructions; our obedience positions us to inherit the promises He has for us.

ASSIGNMENT
Take a clear step of faith today toward God’s promise.

PRAYER
Lord, give me courage to step forward in faith, trusting You to make a way for me.
