"Service to God and Humanity"
CGIT's Organisation
CGIT exists in all Presbyterian Churches in Nigeria. The organization serves as a platform for equipping young girls with the character and skills needed for active service in both the church and society.
CGIT emphasizes personal growth, community service, and commitment to Christian living, while also preparing members for future roles in church organizations and leadership positions. Through continuous guidance from matrons and church leaders, CGIT remains a vital training ground for developing confident, responsible, and service-oriented Christian women.
The group has a light blue uniform with a white-collar worn on special occasions such as annual conferences, weddings, spinsters celebration of members, and presbytery meetings.
a safe environment to discuss age-specific issues like peer pressure and career choices within a Christian framework.
Membership
CGIT is dedicated to the spiritual, physical, and social development of young girls. The organization is guided by a “four-fold” purpose:
- To cherish health
- Seek truth
- Know God
- And serve others.
Benefit of CGIT
Leadership Training: Members learn organizational management by electing and serving as their own executives, including roles as President, Secretary, and Treasurer.
Skill Acquisition: The program provides practical workshops in areas such as baking, bead-making, and tailoring to promote economic self-reliance.
Spiritual Mentorship: Girls receive direct guidance from “Mothers-in-Charge,” who are seasoned female Elders or members of the Women’s Guild.
Personal Growth: It provides a safe environment to discuss age-specific issues like peer pressure and career choices within a Christian framework.
How to become a member
Membership is open to all female members of the church.
- Age Range: Membership typically begins at age 6.
- Duration: Members remain in the CGIT until they are married, at which point they “graduate” to the Women’s Guild.
